Tennis
Alex Eala made history by winning gold in women’s tennis singles, becoming the first Filipino woman to do so in 26 years, a landmark achievement for Philippine tennis. Her victory over Thailand’s Mananchaya Sawangkaew not only earned gold but solidified Eala’s stature as one of the region’s top talents and a star on the global stage. 
Volleyball: Dethroning Thailand with their 8-year reign
In beach volleyball, the Philippine team Alas Pilipinas dethroned Thailand’s long-standing eight-title reign, earning the country’s first ever SEA Games volleyball gold, a triumph 32 years in the making.
First-Ever Women’s Football Gold
In one of the most memorable moments of the Games, the Filipinas (women’s national football team) clinched the first SEA Games gold medal in football, defeating Vietnam in a penalty shootout, 6-5.

Swimming
Swimmer Kayla Sanchez was one of the most-bemedaled athletes of the Games, bringing home three individual golds and five silver medals — highlighted by golds in the 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke — and played a pivotal role in the Philippines’ historic women’s 4×100m freestyle relay gold.
Athletics
  • EJ Obiena secured his fourth consecutive SEA Games gold in men’s pole vault, breaking his own SEA Games record with a 5.70-meter clearance. 
  • Rising star Naomi Marjorie Cesar claimed gold in the women’s 800m, becoming one of the youngest Filipino champions at the Games. 
  • John Cabang Tolentino made headlines with a new SEA Games record in the 110m hurdles.

Basketball Golds

Philippine basketball reaffirmed its regional dominance as Gilas Pilipinas successfully defended the men’s and taking home the women’s basketball gold medals at the 2025 SEA Games. Gilas Pilipinas Women edged the Thais 73–70, silencing a home crowd and demonstrating poise under pressure. The win marked another milestone in the rapid rise of Philippine women’s basketball, which has gained momentum in recent years through strong regional showings and international exposure.
Meanwhile, the men’s team continued its reign in Southeast Asia despite challenges and situations it was put in. Philippine basketball remains a benchmark for excellence in the region.

Esports: Sibol Extends MLBB Dynasty

In the fast-growing world of esports, Team Philippines once again proved untouchable as Sibol captured gold in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB)—the country’s fourth consecutive SEA Games title in the discipline. The victory further cemented the Philippines’ reputation as a regional titan in competitive gaming. 

Once considered non-traditional, esports now stands alongside basketball and athletics as a reliable gold-medal source for the country—drawing massive fan engagement and inspiring a new generation of Filipino athletes in the digital arena.
