What to expect in this year’s Philippine Food and Culture Fest?

The vibrant Filipino community in Germany is preparing to celebrate a spectacular weekend with the Philippine Food and Culture Festival 2024, happening this September 28 and 29 in Munich. This two-day event, organized by Chef Sara Gidinski, aims to advocate for the Filipino people living in Germany, proudly showcasing their rich culture, food, and heritage

As the social media partner, TTPM ACT, Our Online Advocacy Channel, will stream the event live, ensuring that anyone who cannot attend in person can still be part of the celebration. So, what can you expect from this cultural showcase?

A Feast for the Senses: Food, Culture, and More Food!

For Filipinos and those who have experienced Filipino hospitality, food is the heart of any celebration. The Philippine Food and Culture Festival will be no different. Featuring “pagkaing pinoy” that will bring nostalgic flavors from the Philippines right to Munich. At sa mga grandeng handaan (eng: and in feasts) the star of the lineup will undoubtedly be LECHON! A crispy, succulent Filipino roasted pig that’s a must-have at every Filipino gathering. You’ll definitely want to grab a bite of Leslie’s Kitchen(Stuttgart): Cebu Lechon Belly, served solo or shared among friends and family—perfect for curing that craving for classic Cebu-style lechon. Leslie’s Kitchen will also be adding dinakdakan and ginataang munggo to their menu!

Cultural Performances and Presentations

The festival also promises performances that’ll give attendees a chance to witness and appreciate the rich culture of the Philippines, from folk dances to singing performances by groups, bands and organizations. As it’s known, Filipinos looooove music; that’s why the Sing Along Group Online – International Club’s presentation will surely evoke nostalgia by sharing their love of classic OPM songs to our Kababayans and spark interest of others to Filipino music. Sing Along Group Online or SAGO will be on the stage of Philippine Food and Culture Fest 2024 on its 1st day, 28-September 2024.

Our friends from the Philippine Culture Club will also be present in PFCF’s 2nd year, they will be performing traditional folk mixed with modern dance that will surely light up the crowd!

Traditional Bags and Others Goodies

Of course, besides the joy and fulfillment (and food!!) that you can bring home, there are also bags and other goodies available on the venue. Pushing for sustainable Filipino fashion is Lokal Bayong – Germany, featuring handmade bayong bags with a modern twist, 100% handcrafted by skilled artisans using traditional weaving techniques passed down through generations in the Philippines and perfect for daily use.

Other accessories and kids goodies will also be available in the venue. Grab the chance to support Filipino artisans and businesses!

Family Fun and Surprises

The festival is a family-friendly event with activities for children, making it a perfect weekend getaway for families of all backgrounds. From food stalls to cultural performances, there’s something for everyone. And for those who love surprises, expect giveaways and contests throughout the two-day event, though the prizes remain a secret for now.
